Privacy notice

Last updated: 21 October 2026

Who we are

Miles Wheeler-Smith, trading as MWS runs this website and is responsible for how we use your enquiry. This notice covers website visits and initial enquiries. For privacy questions or requests, email miles@mileswheelersmith.com.

When you get in touch

We use the details you give us to understand your request, reply and prepare a quote where requested. The form asks for your name, UK postcode, type of work, project details and at least one contact method: email or phone. Approximate timing is optional. You choose whether to enquire; we need the required fields to accept the form and reply. Please avoid sending sensitive or unnecessary personal information.

If you email or call directly, you use your own email or calling service. Your communication does not go through the website form.

For an individual’s requested quote, we use information needed to take steps towards a contract with them. For other enquiries, including someone contacting us for a company, we rely on our legitimate interest in responding to requests and managing business relationships.

How Brisk Site helps

Brisk Site hosts this website and stores and delivers form enquiries on our behalf. It uses Vercel for hosting, Neon for its database and Resend to email enquiries to our designated inbox. Our email provider also handles messages we receive. Authorised people and providers can access information where needed to operate and support these services.

How long information is kept

Brisk Site schedules its application copy of a form enquiry for deletion after 90 days, or sooner if we delete our Brisk Site account. This does not remove copies in our inbox. Resend keeps separate email and delivery-log copies for 30 days. Its backups have a seven-day lifetime.

We keep enquiry correspondence while dealing with your request and any agreed follow-up. We regularly review completed enquiries and delete information we no longer need. If you book work with us, we keep information needed to carry out that work. Some information may be kept longer where needed to resolve a complaint or meet a legal requirement.

Vercel keeps runtime logs for 30 days under Brisk Site’s current hosting settings. Neon has a rolling six-hour database restore history, which can include earlier versions of deleted enquiries. Restore history is separate from the physical deletion of every provider copy. Providers may keep separate security and recovery records under their published policies, including where needed to protect their services, meet legal duties or resolve disputes.

Keeping the website working

Hosting and security services process information such as your IP address, browser details and access times to deliver pages, prevent spam and investigate faults. We and Brisk Site rely on the legitimate interest in running a secure, reliable service. Necessary cookies may support security or Brisk Site account features on the Brisk Site domain. Brisk Site explains its own handling in its Privacy notice.

Brisk Site’s providers process information outside the UK, including in the US. Their published standard-service terms provide for standard contractual clauses with the UK Addendum where required for overseas transfers. You can ask Brisk Site at hello@brisksite.co.uk for details or a copy of the applicable safeguards.

Your rights and concerns

Depending on the circumstances, you can ask to access, correct or delete your information, restrict its use or receive certain information in a portable form. You can object where legitimate interests are used. These rights have conditions and exceptions; use our public email address above to make a request.

Please contact us if you have a concern. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
